Cloud Backup allows to automatically back up data from computers, servers and mobile devices; restore the required versions of the backup data; and retain backups for unlimited time.
Backup types
File and folder backup
Backup and recovery of the user files and folders via the file scanner (for regular users) or manual file selection (for advanced users).
Backup retention options:
-
Forever save: Files are never automatically deleted neither from the cloud nor from the device
-
Delete files from the cloud if they are not changed on the local computer for
X
days -
Delete files from the cloud if they are deleted from the local computer, after
X
days
Advanced folder backup
Set different backup retention policies for different folders:
-
Replicate: Data is backed up to the cloud as it is added or changed, and removed from the cloud if it is deleted locally
-
Forever save: Data is never automatically removed from the cloud and from the device
-
Time-limited backup: When data is backed up to the cloud, it is kept only for
X
days after the last backup before being deleted from the device. This timer resets if a new version of the data is backed up -
Temporary: Backups are retained temporarily. If the data does not change within the specified number of days, its backups are deleted from the cloud

Data considerations
Data storage
Backup data is stored in our cloud on the redundant storage arrays. We provide an option of extra full redundant copy of the data with automated failover to the replica in the event of temporary downtime of the primary storage. Metadata is stored separately on a redundant storage, with regular automated backups. For each stored file, we keep checksums of both the source data and its compressed, encrypted version, to allow data consistency validation.
Data centers
Our cloud uses multiple data centers in the US, and one data center in each of the following: Canada, UK, Germany, Australia, and South Africa.
The data centers are maintained by the top-tier providers with 24×7 video surveillance, biometric access control, and compliance certifications. SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports can be retrieved upon request. The data is encrypted at source, and remains encrypted during the transfer and at rest, with optional encryption passphrase that is never stored on our side.
Data compression
Cloud Backup uses data compression to speed up the backup and recovery processes.
OBRM compresses data using Ionic Zip libraries (lossless compression) prior to transfer to the cloud, and decompresses it using Xceed.
The compression rate varies depending on the file type. For example, Microsoft Office files, PDF files, or the like, can be compressed by up to 80%.
Data compression does not affect cloud space used by an account. The system calculates the used space based on the size of the raw (non-compressed) data as it appears on the disk before the backup starts.
Data encryption and account types
Cloud Backup allows you to choose from three account types: Regular, UltraSafe, and UltraSafe Max.
Account → | Regular | UltraSafe | UltraSafe Max |
---|---|---|---|
Data encryption | AES-256 | AES-256 | AES-256 |
Encryption key | Stored on our side, encrypted automatically | Stored on our side, encrypted with your password | Stored on your side, encrypted with your password |
Data and key access | We can access your data and encryption key | We cannot access your data and encryption key | We cannot access your data and encryption key |
Password reset | Yes | N/A | N/A |
Desktop app (OBRM) | Yes, full-featured | Yes, full-featured | Yes, full-featured |
Mobile app | Yes, full-featured | Yes, limited use | N/A |
Web app (Dashboard) | Yes, full-featured | Yes, limited use | N/A |
