Back up a Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machine

Backup & Disaster Recovery supports agentless backup of the Hyper-V virtual machines (VMs). This means you need to install the DR backup agent only on the Hyper-V host, but not on each individual VM.

Boot, restore, and browse and restore are not supported for the VM checkpoints.

To set up and configure backup of a Hyper-V VM:

  1. Create a client for the Hyper-V host.

  2. Install the DR backup agent on the Hyper-V host.

  3. Pair the DR backup agent installed on the Hyper-V host with appliance.

  4. Add the Hyper-V connection to appliance.

  5. Register the VM to back up.

  6. Review and change the VM client configuration if needed.
